Throughout our programs, you are encouraged to focus on employment as your primary goal not protracted training as an end in itself. Feedback from Omega graduates since 1977 confirms the effectiveness of this strategy. Successful students who have started their own facilities report that the Omega programs provided them with everything they needed to know, and they grew in their experience and expertise while they “apprenticed” on their own equipment. Other graduates have found satisfying employment and built successful careers by applying their Omega training. The longevity of the Omega Studios’ School, along with the success of many of its graduates, attests to the honesty and rationality of this educational outlook.
The Technical Programs
Omega’s technical programs are designed to teach you to operate the ”music machines” of the recording industry. Depending on the specific program(s) in which you enroll, you will work with top-of-the-line digital and analog multi-track tape recorders, a variety of automated recording and mixing consoles, and a dazzling array of microphones, synthesizers, sequencing computers, samplers, signal processors and digital audio workstations. Today’s highly specialized multimedia recording and production environment requires that you be thoroughly prepared with not only theory and concept, but also meaningful, practical experience. The programs at The Omega Studios’ School are designed to provide you this knowledge and training.
Don’t confuse the Omega programs with classroom-oriented “recording appreciation” courses, or basic training on “semi-pro” equipment. The hands-on classes are taught to small groups, using the most modern professional studio hardware available. You will perform sessions and mixes in the actual control rooms and studios used by Omega’s major label clients learning how it’s really done not just how the books say it’s supposed to be done.
As a successful and motivated graduate from Omega’s engineering programs you will emerge fully prepared for entry into real-world jobs that require knowledge of professional recording equipment such as Neve, SSL, Studer, API, AMS, Neuman, Digidesign ProTools, MOTU Digital Performer and others. |
